PhotoTrackr Contest

Yup its another contest entry. Sure I know I am not going to win. I never win these thing because to win I would need people to vote for me every day. I know that is not going to happen. You people have lives I am lucky you stop by and check out what I am doing once a week or so.

It would be nice to win though. The prize is a “GiSTEQ™ PhotoTrackr™ Lite. So what the heck is a GiSTEQ™ PhotoTrackr™ Lite? I am probably going to get in trouble for this Drew does not like when I simplify his products. He was none to happy when I described the X-shot as a stick with the screw. Well the GiSTEQ™ PhotoTrackr™ Lite is really just a GPS. It keeps track of where you are and what time you were there.

Why is this cool? Well it allows you to attach GPS data to you pictures when you pull them off you camera. This assumes the PhotoTrackr was in the same place as the camera when you took the picture and that the clocks are synchronized. Basically set the clock and clip the PhotoTrackr to your camera bag and you are all set. Now why the heck would you want GPS data in your pictures? Well my A takes a ton of sunset photos, I don’t know why I am way more fun to look at than a silly sunset. Problem is I can never tell if where he took the picture. The sunset in Bonaire looks the same as the sunset from the top of Jackson Hole which looks the same as a sunset at the dump. However if he had a PhotoTracker we would know where each picture was taken.

So why should I win one of these suckers. Well have you ever seen the movie Far From Home: The Adventures of Yellow Dog? If you have not seen it, it is one of the best dog movies out there. The Plot is pretty simple it is about a Yellow Lab who gets lost in the wilderness. The movie follows yellow dog as he tried to get back to his family. My A really like the movie but has been unable to watch it since his yellow lab Roger was put down a few years ago. Roger looks a lot like Yellow Dog. I know he has the movie in his Netflix queue and he keeps pushing it back to the bottom.

Anyway there are some many of these Hollywood dog gets lost, dog goes on incredible journey to come home movies. Some of them are great (yellow dog), some are good (the incredible journey) and some are terrible (I will not name them). What they all have in common are they are Hollywood movies. The are great stories and pull at your heart strings but they are not real.

Today it is all about reality. So I am thinking if I had a camera and a PhotoTrackr I could go on my own incredible journey. I still need to work out the details but I will figure it out. I would use the PhotoTracker and a Doggie cam to document my own incredible journey

I think it is about time we dogs stepped up allowed you people see what we really go through. If you want more insight into the what I do then vote for me. I live a pretty interesting life and I am willing to share it with you. I just need a PhotoTrackr. Look at Drew he has a PhotoTrackr and we know more about him than you probably ever wanted to know.

Now to fulfill the contest requirements

Drew has written a great review or PhotoTrackr

Mad Gringo Contest Entry

Well as you all know I have no time in my life to go slow. It is rush, rush, rush, for me and really that is good. You may not know this but the life span of a dog is 1/7th that of you humans. Sometimes is sucks to be a dog, what with the lack of opposable thumbs, limited employment opportunities and short life span. Obviously I don’t have time to slow down nor do I want to. If I am going to make the US Bobsledding team I have to focus on speed 7x24x365

Anyway Drew over at the wired kayaker is having a contest to win a Hawaiian shirt.

I am supposed to pick a shirt. I like the Makaha 2007 . Then I am supposed to tell you about why I need this shirt to help me “Go Slow” . “Go Slow” is the motto of the Mad Gringo. I don’t know why he is so mad but at least he is going slow so he will not be able to catch me. Maybe he needs a dog to make him happy. The guy does make a good shirt though I will give him that.

Well I don’t want to go slow I don’t have the time for that. I wish I did but I don’t. However the shirts look really cool and I want one.

So why should you vote for me. Well I am sure there are a bunch of other people who have created great entries for this contest but ask yourself this one question.

Do you want to see a dog in a Hawaiian shirt? That is right if I win I will put on the shirt and take a picture while I am wearing it. I will then post that picture for you my beloved readers.

If you already have a picture of a dog wearing a Hawaiian shirt don’t vote for me but if you don’t have one them I am the obvious choice. It is really a win/win.

Come on I know you want to see a dog wearing a Hawaiian shirt. Vote for me!

Man was I wrong

Man was I wrong. Apparently the tree my A put up inside was some sort of Holiday decoration and not there for my benefit. According to my A you put up a tree and decorate it then Santa Clause comes to put presents under it on Christmas Eve.

This does not really make a lot of sense to me. Is Santa some kind of giant moth who is drawn to bright, colorfully lighted trees? Why does the tree need to be inside? My A says it is so Santa can come down the chimney but this just confuses me more. Now I have a guy who wants to come down my chimney to leave presents under a decorated tree in my living room. What!!! How am I going to sleep with a guy coming down the chimney. How does he get on my roof? Oh wait my A told me he rides a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer. Of course flying reindeer, that makes perfect sense. I hope they don’t mess up the shingles. What if we have a fire? Does Santa have an asbestos suit?

This is some crazy Holiday. I love presents and I have been good all year so I should get a ton but this makes no sense. I asked my A to explain it, more to draw attention away from the puddle of pee he was focusing on than anything else, but he was not very helpful. He told me Christmas used to be about a lot more and still is for many people but our culture has turned it into this weird materialistic holiday. Christmas is a time for giving back and trying to help others. Really we should be doing this all year but, that is just me talking. You just tend to see more people being nice around Christmas I guess some people have poor memories and need to be reminded.

I don’t really want to go about what Christmas means to me. My A lectured me pretty good on that and while I am sure he is right. I was just happy he moved on from continually pointing out the pee under the tree. Really we all make mistakes and how was I to know that tree was not for me to use. How was I expected to know it was some kind of a ploy to attract Santa and his flying reindeer. Ask yourself which is explanation is more plausible.

People are weird. I hope Santa brings me a ton of loot this year.

Trees inside what a great idea

Pheewww man it has been a long week. I have not had much of a chance to write lately. I know some of you are thinking “Stephen you are a dog you must have a ton of free time” Well I don’t I have a lot of things to get done in the course of the day. I have bobsled training and currently I am working on the 2007 Stephen Awards among other things.

Speaking of the Stephen awards if you would like to nominate someone for a Stephen Award please send me an email stephenthedog(at)gmail.com. Please include the name of the person you are nominating and what you are nominating them for. Include a brief description of why you think this person deserves a Stephen Award I am really looking forward to this year’s Stephen Awards.

I think my A has been feeling a little guilty that it is starting to get cold at night and I have to go outside to pee. Man it has been cold lately. My driveway if full of ice and I am slipping and sliding all over the place.

Just the other day my A came home with this huge evergreen tree. He set up the tree in the living room. He even put a bunch of lights on the tree so I if I get up in the middle of the night and have to go I can find it. My A takes such good care of me. I have not used the tree yet but it is nice to know that if it gets really cold out there I can use it. I am sure my A will enjoy me not having to wake him up at 4am to go out. This is such a great idea I wonder why my A did not think of it sooner. All you dogs out there you should definitely have your people get trees for the living room. They not only make our lives easier but they look really pretty too.

Random thoughts

Man it has been a long week. My A’s company just took over a huge deal and my A has been working a lot and coming home all stressed out and frustrated. There are working with a lot of new technology and the systems that are being forced to use kind of stink. I have not seen him this stressed in a while.

I have been doing my best to help him out. Last night I spent a good half and hour licking his head for him, I know he likes that. He keeps pushing my head away and saying enough so he must really like it.

I am also making sure he gets some exercise. I bark and whine to make him let me outside, this forces him to get up off the couch. After I am outside for a few minutes I start to bark like crazy and he has to come and bring me back inside before I really annoy the neighbors. Last night I had to do this about 30 times. My A seems to get a little frustrated but it is for his own good. He needs the exercise, as we all know it reduces stress.

You may notice I am not in the picture above. Usually I only post pictures with me in them. I know you are all here just to look at me and I ok with that. I know I am cute.

The picture is of my A he finally relented and let me post a photo of him. So all of you who have always wondered what my A looks like there he is raking leaves. I love to rake leaves. I am really good at it. The only problem I have it waiting until my A gets the piles big enough before I run through them. I am not very patient. I know it is a flaw and I am working on it. Even when the piles are not huge I can still get a nice spray of leaves as I run through them. My A gets really excited when I get good spray out of the leaf pile so I know I am doing a good job. I really don’t understand the point of raking the leaves. It is definitely fun to run through them and spread them around but it seems like a lot of work for my A. I don’t really see where he is accomplishing anything with the raking
